In a powerful display of compassion, unity and selfless service, the Rotary Club of Mbarara, in partnership with leading organizations and the warm-hearted people of Sheema Municipality, delivered one of the most impactful healthcare initiatives the region has ever witnessed. From December 1st to 5th, 2025, the landmark Medical Camp at Kabwohe Health Centre IV became a lifeline for thousands, offering free, high-quality medical services that touched hearts, saved lives, and restored hope across the community.

What unfolded over those five extraordinary days was nothing short of miraculous. From sunrise to sunset, long lines of hopeful families, elderly residents, mothers, fathers, and children streamed into the centre. Dedicated teams of doctors, nurses, specialists, and passionate volunteers worked tirelessly, creating an atmosphere filled with warmth, care, and genuine human connection. Smiles replaced worry, relief washed over faces, and countless lives were forever changed.

The camp was a comprehensive healthcare powerhouse, providing a full spectrum of essential services absolutely free of charge:
– Expert management of childhood conditions, including the joyful distribution of free wheelchairs that gave mobility and dignity back to deserving children.
– Critical women’s health screenings, with a special focus on cervical cancer detection empowering women with early intervention and peace of mind.
– Prostate cancer screenings for men, promoting proactive health and longevity.
– Thorough diabetes screening and management, equipping families with knowledge and tools to live healthier lives.
– HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, delivered with compassion and confidentiality.
– Tuberculosis screening and treatment, helping to protect entire families and communities.
– Eye screening and treatment, bringing the gift of clearer vision to hundreds.
– A vibrant blood donation drive that strengthened local supplies and highlighted community solidarity.
– Dental health services that restored confident smiles and improved overall well-being.

These world-class services were made possible through inspiring collaborations with Ruharo Mission Hospital, Bethany Kids, the Ministry of Health, TASO, Marie Stopes, the Blood Bank, Sheema Municipal Council,RC Kabwohe and an incredible lineup of generous sponsors and supporters.

By the end of the five days, thousands of people over 1,000 grateful individuals from Sheema and neighboring communities were helped in this noble cause. Many received diagnoses and treatment. Children gained freedom of movement. Women discovered health concerns early enough to act. Men received vital screenings. Families left with knowledge, medication, and renewed strength.

This wasn’t just healthcare, it was a movement of love in action. One mother shared through tears of joy, “For the first time, I felt truly seen and cared for.” A grandfather who received eye treatment exclaimed, “Now I can see my grandchildren’s faces clearly again!” Stories like these echoed throughout the camp, creating waves of gratitude and inspiration.

The success of this medical camp stands as shining proof of what happens when dedicated hearts come together. It embodied the Rotary motto “Together, One Act at a Time” in the most beautiful way imaginable.

The Rotary Club of Mbarara extends its heartfelt thanks to every doctor, nurse, volunteer, partner organization, sponsor, and community member who made this dream a reality. Your generosity and commitment turned a vision into a historic triumph that will be remembered for years to come.

Events like this remind us that real change begins with compassion and collective effort. As we celebrate the thousands of lives touched and transformed, we look forward with excitement to future initiatives that will continue uplifting communities and spreading hope across Uganda.
Together, we are unstoppable.
