In the Rotary World, the Months of May and June are specific in different Rotary Clubs changing Leadership & hosting their guests to Installation parties. Usually the installation events are dinners organized by Club members with several Rotarians, Rotaractors, invited & special Guests in attendance.
Rc Mbarara didn’t miss this chance to unleash the 2025/26 President & his Board.
Friends, what is normally a day for dinner turned into a precursor of a Week long hive of themed activities- dubbed ” the Kahara Week”.
This installation became a special one that gave especially “the baby Clubs” of RC Mbarara an opportunity to participate in the themed activities.
The Rotary Club of Mbarara Ranchers took out Monday 2nd & Tuesday 3rd June, 2025 to show case readiness for the Week. The 3rd of June, 2025 introduced & launched a Rotary Means Business Fellowship (RMB) in Mbarara. Katonga Porkers got officially launched in Ruti- Mbarara and revellers from all walks of life, took to a street jam with a band playing to the wee hours of the night. This business of a Rotarian was officially given a green light.
Come Wednesday, 4th June, 25, the Rotaract Club of Mbarara was themed to host a Campfire fellowship, by the Lake side at the Children’s Peace Park. Fun, ecstasy, warmth & camping fellowship launch characterized that memorable evening & night. The camp happened & only got closed, when the Kahara Week got done.
Thursday 5th June, 2025 was yet another day to remember. Delegates from all walks of life started arriving. Notable were Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Same in Tanzania, who were attending in honor of an exchange visit with Rotary Club of Mbarara. The arrival of Guests who had driven by Road for over 1800kms to attend the installation brought the would have been a Saturday 7th Installation even closer.
Friday 6th June, the 5th day of the now famous Week saw a multitude of Clubs, Guests and other dignitaries of all walks of life enjoy a pre- installation event (Kasiki) at the famous hangout, Luxor Bar & grill as they danced and merry made with the installation in sight. It was and shall for ages be a night to remember.
To those who attended the 6th day of this famous week recall how beautiful, organized, fun and cheerful the main Installation day was. If all Rotary functions exhibit the same level of organization,purpose and commitment, then everyone will join Rotary. That installation went down the record of history as one of the most successful & impactful in all forms, the Rotary way.
Sunday 8th June, the 7th day of the week blew off the lid to where it will never be found. The Climax of “the Kahara Week” saw Rotarians, Rotaractors & Guests from all walks of life arrive at the Rotary House as early as 6:30am for “Break fast”. To those who have partied before, that was a “party”.
The District Governor, D9214, Christine Kyeyune Kawooya didn’t miss the final show. She was welcomed into Mbarara that morning. The capacity of the attendees shot to about 500 people,who enjoyed their Breakfast from sunset to dawn. A repeat of the same is yet to be thought about.
A celebration of service above self happed, the joy of fellowship was experienced, the coming together of different Clubs for a purpose was exhibited. 68 Rotary Clubs, 17 Rotaract Clubs amongst the many dignitaries that attended showcased the Power of Rotary.
Together one Act at a Time, the Kahara Week happened.
