On September 5th, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the Kanungu View Hotel served as the backdrop for a historic event—the official launch of the Rotary Club of Kanungu In-Formation, proudly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mbarara. This momentous occasion marked the establishment of a new platform dedicated to fostering humanitarian service, integrity, and community development in Kanungu, aligning with Rotary International’s global mission.

The ceremony, presided over by Country Chair, Uganda of Rotary District 9214, Apollo Ampumwize, and President of the Rotary Club of Mbarara, Kahara Abel, brought together community leaders, stakeholders, and passionate individuals united by a shared commitment to service. The event was a powerful demonstration of Rotary’s core principle: collective action drives transformative change.

In his keynote address, Country Chair,Uganda Apollo Ampumwize outlined the guiding principles of the Rotary Club of Kanungu In-Formation, emphasizing dedication to humanitarian service, integrity, and the advancement of global peace. He highlighted Rotary International’s seven areas of focus: peacebuilding and conflict prevention, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, community economic development, and environmental protection. These focus areas will serve as the foundation for the club’s initiatives in Kanungu.

Referencing the 2025-2026 Rotary theme, “Unite For Good,” Country Chair,Uganda Ampumwize underscored the importance of unity in achieving meaningful impact. “Collective effort is the cornerstone of progress,” he stated, encouraging members to embrace collaboration as they work to address local challenges and contribute to global goodwill.

President Kahara Abel of the Rotary Club of Mbarara delivered a compelling address, calling on members to contribute their unique strengths to the club’s mission. “Each individual brings something valuable—whether time, expertise, or resources,” he remarked. “By uniting these contributions, we can achieve extraordinary outcomes for our community.” His remarks echoed the timeless wisdom of Helen Keller: “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” This principle will guide the Rotary Club of Kanungu In-Formation as it embarks on its journey of service.

The Kanungu community responded with remarkable enthusiasm, warmly embracing the new club and demonstrating a collective resolve to drive positive change. Their engagement and support underscored the potential for the Rotary Club of Kanungu In-Formation to become a catalyst for sustainable development in the region.

The establishment of the Rotary Club of Kanungu In-Formation represents a commitment to addressing critical community needs, from improving access to clean water and sanitation to enhancing educational opportunities and supporting economic growth. Guided by Rotary’s values of service, integrity, and fellowship, the club is well-positioned to make a tangible difference in the lives of Kanungu residents.

The launch event was a testament to the power of partnership and shared vision. The Rotary Club of Mbarara extends its gratitude to Country Chair,Uganda Apollo Ampumwize and President Kahara Abel for their exemplary leadership, as well as to the Kanungu community for their warm reception and dedication to the ideals of Rotary.

As the Rotary Club of Kanungu In-Formation begins its journey, it invites individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to join in its mission. By working together, the club aims to create a legacy of service, foster goodwill, and drive sustainable progress in Kanungu and beyond.

The Rotary Club of Mbarara is honored to sponsor this new chapter and looks forward to supporting its growth and impact.
