The TRF Old Skool Fundraiser:A Night of Nostalgia, Dance and Giving Back.Organised by the Rotary Club of Mbarara, the TRF Old Skool Fundraiser was an absolute delight a lively celebration that masterfully blended retro fun with genuine purpose. Held on Saturday, 22 November 2025, at the charming Acacia Country Inn in Mbarara, the event kicked off at 4:30 pm and carried on late into the night, proving that supporting a worthy cause can be every bit as entertaining as it is meaningful.

The theme captured hearts instantly: Old Skool. Attendees turned up in full school uniform regalia crisp blazers, neatly knotted ties, pleated skirts, knee-high socks and those once ubiquitous polished black “shule” shoes. Grown-ups from all corners of professional life happily slipped back into childhood mode, complete with playful props and exaggerated poses that sparked wave after wave of laughter. The venue transformed into a joyful, time-warped school reunion, where every corner buzzed with shared memories and light-hearted mischief.

The atmosphere was pure electricity. From the opening notes, classic Ugandan favourites and timeless international hits poured through the speakers and the dance floor came alive. Guests dusted off long-forgotten moves, belted out lyrics with abandon, and danced shoulder-to-shoulder in a sea of grinning faces. It was the kind of carefree, feel-good energy that turns strangers into instant friends and leaves everyone with aching cheeks from smiling so much.

At its core, though, the evening served a deeper mission. As a dedicated fundraiser for The Rotary Foundation (TRF), it mobilised support for transformative projects in education, healthcare, clean water, peace-building and community development both locally and worldwide. The turnout was encouraging and generous.

Brought to you by the warm, dedicated team at the Rotary Club of Mbarara, the night perfectly embodied Rotary’s enduring motto of Service Above Self and the uplifting call to move forward “Together, One Act at a Time.” Every shilling raised will help build brighter futures from better classrooms to safer water sources to new opportunities for young people.

Social feeds overflowed with snapshots of the magic: beaming faces in uniforms, packed dance floors, and proud moments of collective generosity. The TRF Old Skool Fundraiser reminded everyone that doing good doesn’t have to feel heavy it can be colourful, joyful, and utterly unforgettable.

If you missed this edition, stay tuned to the updates on when we host an Old Skool night for a cause, it’s always worth clearing your calendar uniform encouraged, good vibes guaranteed.
